Trust Jazz Man I'd finally got up my courage to ask Rupert about what really went on in Sunnydale. I knew about the vampires, but what did he have to do with it? It was after school, I knew he was there, that hunk of junk he calls a car was still in the parking lot. I walked into the library expecting to find him filing or something equally boring. I couldn't see him to begin with so I called out his name and started looking about. When I found him it certainly wasn't what I had been expecting. He was in his office with his head resting on his arms fast asleep. He looked like a little boy who'd sneaked out of bed to finish reading a favourite book and had fallen asleep. I moved toward him and put my hand on his shoulder calling softly, "Rupert," in an attempt to wake him up. It didn't work; he really was out for the count. "Well, might as well make you comfortable," I said taking off his glasses, he probably hadn't realised he still had them on. I set them carefully on the desk and moved the book he had been reading away from him. I looked down at it wondering what had interested him so much. It was an old leather bound book - no surprises there. It seemed to be some kind of a diary. I quickly read the page it had been open at. "June 14, 1818. Annabel was attacked last night. There must be a new leader, several vampires were working together. I do not think my Slayer will last much longer. I do not wish to lose her, but she must follow her destiny." "This is a Watcher Diary," I said to myself. If this was a Watcher Diary then Rupert was a Watcher, but the wasn't possibly, was it? It must be. If he was the Watcher then who was the Slayer? Willow? Buffy? Buffy made more sense, she was more violently minded. This discovery changed everything. Rupert was a Watcher and Buffy was his Slayer. I looked down at him, how could this mild mannered librarian be the Watcher. I was impressed. Seeing him so vulnerable like this almost made my change my mind about make him give me more information, but only almost. I had to make he tell me about Buffy and him. I wanted him to trust me, then maybe I could trust him. End Please send any feedback to - thanks.
